Eubie Blake Center Presents the ILICFF’s Filmmaking Workshops Saturday September 30, 2023

*One of the many activities of the 7th annual Imagination Lunchbox International Children’s Film Fest (ILICFF), September 23 – October 2023, is its ILICFF/Eubie Blake Filmmaking Workshops for Youth.

The filmmaking presentations include John Wesby, president of Wesby One Productions, who will speak on Film Production, and Ursula V. Battle, president of Battle Stageplays will speak on scriptwriting and casting. The ILICFF/Eubie Blake Filmmaking Workshops for Youth is to be held Saturday 30th from 12 – 3pmEST at the Eubie Blake Center in Baltimore (845 North Howard Street, 21201). Shorts in the past have come from the U.S., India, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Poland, Spain, Germany, and Canada.

John Wesby is also an executive producer at BET Networks (MADD Sports, Brenda Russell). At his company Wesby One Productions he has produced commercials and documentaries. One of his documentary projects for the More Than a Fraction Foundation, 1872 Forward: Foreword, was recently screened at the Denton Black Film Festival.

Ursula V. Battle is theatrical producer through Battle Stageplays where she writes and cast plays that address the plots of Urban living with a Spiritual connection. The combination has propelled her celebrity status as a playwright.

Battle was the former Director of Public Relations at Coppin State University and is also an award-winning journalist (The Baltimore Times, Afro).

The ILI Children’s Film Festival starts Saturday, September 23rd virtually (powered by Zoom) screening and awarding short films made by and for kids from around the world.

An ILICFF Basketball Tournament fundraiser will be held Sunday, September 24th (high school level games) from 12 – 4pmEST at the Druid Hill Park Courts. Between September 25 – 29th the Baltimore Design School will host an assembly to screen the ILICFF short films, selecting further award winners.

Saturday, September 30th is the filmmaking presentation at the Eubie Blake Center, and ILICFF ends Sunday, October 1st (college level games) with the ILICFF Basketball Tournament fundraiser from 12 – 4pmEST at the Druid Hill Park Court.

The ILICFF founder Anthony Michael Hobbs, a SAG/AFTRA multi-award-winning actor (DreamWorks, PBS) and filmmaker (ImaginationLunchbox.com), will host the events along with Doresa Harvey, a SAG/AFTRA actress/comedian and former Radio One Baltimore and iHeart personality. Attendees can also see Anthony during the basketball tournaments’ intermission as he plays a one-on-one playoff with one of the players where if they win receives a cash prize. Four awards will be given at ILICFF screenings – “Best Film Made FOR Kids; “Film Festival Choice,” “Best Film Made BY Kids,” and “Most Uplifting Film” (sponsored by the 24th annual Uplifting Minds II entertainment Conference).
