iHeart Radio’s and “EURweb Spotlight” host Jazmyn ‘Jaz’  Summers was there to bring you the tea.  The third and final season continues the powerful semi-fictional story of Bobby Diggs (‘Rza’) bringing together a group of men who make an indelible mark on hip hop with their unique sound and surprising personal sagas.

“Man, we got a lot of surprises this season. It’s the final season, but I may have to say it’s the best season as well, so you’re going to enjoy a lot of surprises,” teases the real Rza.

The story is set in the 1990s when the crack epidemic was ravaging the Black community.  Diggs’ vision sees music as a pathway out “of the mud” sometimes going against his older brother Divine (Julian Elijah Martinez), who favored the drug trade as the means to giving their family a better life. Ultimately Rza unites a dozen young black men who battle against the barriers that hold them down including their own occasional loss of belief and hope in a tough world.

First of all, Wu-Tang is a group of men that helped Hip hop and we’re proud to be a  part of hip hop.  Hip Hop helped us and we’ve helped it. Whenever you’re in the Wu it usually stands for witty or wisdom and Wu-Tang definitely bought a lot of wit and a lot of wisdom to hip hop, ” says Rza.

Rza refuses to give up any spoiler alerts on season three and tells Jaz, “You wanna know more, “I can show you, better than I can tell you.”

In other words, watch the series fam!!! But he does reveal that we see the heartbreak of everybody going their separate ways.

“I do hope that the audience sees the heartbreak of it all. Because heartbreaks are always present. As men, in this so-called alpha position that a hip-hop artist has to uphold, it seems that he’s invulnerable to heartbreak. Nobody is. I’ve been continually heartbroken. But I would say that I also continually got up and fought again. It won’t stop me,” reveals Rza.

The Grammy-nominated composer and artist is never afraid to try new things.

“I wrote my first ballet to share with the world, I composed all the music, got the Colorado Symphony to play it with me and we got  Yusha-Marie Sorzano from the Alvin Ailey troop  School of Dance to put together a group of dancers. It’s really something marvelous and I’m very proud of it. It’s called a “Ballet Through Mud.”

The ballet is garnering critical acclaim and includes spoken word chronicling, “myself from the age of sixteen to eighteen, and all the things that a young mind thinks. From sex, drugs, to the realities of life, and I came across a couple of stories where I was like, I just summed it up as youthful exploration. It’s almost like it’s a travel through mud at the end of the day. So when I found those old stories, it really propelled me to create it musically, as in, find a narrative that had a through-line,” says Rza.

Finally, he dropped a little tea to Jaz on his 14-year marriage to the beautiful Talani Rabb. “A Black queen,” says Raza who proclaims he is a proud supporter of Black love.

“To me a man represents knowledge, a woman represents wisdom, you put them together and you get understanding Me and my wife have that kind of love. That’s the highest elevation of understanding and I’m blessed to have her in my life.”
