Shocking Twist In XXXTentacion Murder Case: Defense Points Finger at Drake, Judge Orders Rapper To Sit For Deposition

In a shocking new twist, Drake is facing a court order to either take a deposition or appear in court in connection with the ongoing XXXTentacion murder trial. Details inside…

In an unexpected turn of events, Drake will testify about the murder of rapper XXXTentacion, and if he doesn’t, he’ll face some serious consequences.

TMZ reports the Young Money rapper was originally scheduled for a deposition on January 27th, but failed to appear. A deposition is out-of-court testimony conducted outside of a courtroom but still under oath. It is used to gather information as part of the discovery process and may be used at trial in limited circumstances.

Since he skipped out on the first deposition, he must now sit for one scheduled for Friday, February 24th, via Zoom. If he skips out on that date, the judge said he better appear in court on Monday, February 27th, or possibly be charged with contempt.

According to reports, defense attorneys for the three men accused of murdering rapper XXXTentacion have raised the possibility that rap superstar Drake was behind the 2018 slaying.

Suspects Michael Boatwright (above), 28, Trayvon Newsome (below), 24, and Dedrick Williams, 26, are accused of carrying out the fatal shooting outside a Florida motorcycle store as part of a robbery that escalated to a cold-blooded killing, according to prosecutors. Each suspect is reportedly facing a first-degree murder charge and robbery charges. If convicted of the first-degree murder charge, they would face life in prison.

So, how did Drake’s name get dragged in it?

XXXTentacion’s Feud with Drake

The attorneys for the three defendants argued that investigators did not look into XXXTentacion’s simmering feud with Drake in the aftermath of the 20-year-old’s death. The late rapper, real name Jahseh Onfroy, once stated on social media that if he died, Drake would be the reason, though he later retracted that bold statement.

“If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi [Drake’s Instagram handle]. I’m snitching right now,” he wrote on IG Stories when he was alive.

Later, XXX wrote, “Please stop entertaining that bullshit on Twitter. My accounts were previously hacked.”

XXX deleted the post and claimed he’d been hacked. Mauricio Padilla, the defense attorney for Dedrick Williams, wants to raise reasonable doubt in the jurors’ minds.

Prosecution’s Argument

According to prosecutors, the shooting was the result of a botched robbery, and there is no evidence linking Drake to the deadly gunfire.

Boatwright, Trayvon, and Williams are accused of going to Riva Motorsports on June 18, 2018, to buy masks with plans to commit armed robberies, but changed their minds when they saw XXXTentacion inside the store, according to prosecutors. Williams cut off the rapper’s BMW with his SUV as Boatwright and Newsome rushed XXXTentacion’s car to rob him, according to prosecutor Pascale Achille in court.

Before Boatwright shot him multiple times “without any provocation,” Achille claimed, the group took about $50,000 that XXX had in a Louis Vuitton bag.

Robert Allen, 26, a different suspect, admitted to second-degree murder after accepting a plea deal and has testified throughout the trial for the state.

“They go on social media and start bragging that they have this influx of cash,” Achille said. “They flash it like it’s Christmas Day.”

Allen said in his testimony that the other three suspects shared the remaining $45,000 equally at a price of $15,000 each, and that he only received $5,000 of the $50,000 taken during the robbery because he refused to commit the crime.

The informant continued that Michael Boatwright, the alleged triggerman, argued that Allen should be compensated because of his presence during the crime, despite one of his co-defendants, Dedrick Williams, suggesting that Allen not receive any of the money taken during the robbery.

Defense Arguments

Attorney Joseph Kimok, Boatwright’s attorney, claimed that his client was asleep at home during the murder and that the cellphone data that connected to him came from a shared phone that was used by several men. While he appeared to have the money that the prosecutors mentioned on social media, he claimed that it actually belonged to Allen and not Boatwright.

The defense attorney for Newsome asserted that his client was not present.

Interesting.

The latest development in the XXXTentacion murder case has sent shockwaves through the music community, and only time will tell what the outcome of the deposition will be.
