Mariah Carey will write, produce and perform the theme song for the upcoming black-ish spin-off series, mixed-ish.

- The songstress stated, “As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved.” She continued, “I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix.’”
- mixed-ish will focus on Rainbow Johnson’s childhood and the unique struggles she and her mixed-raced family faced while living in the suburbs during the ‘80s.
- Carey has also expressed interest in making a guest appearance on the show.
- Kenya Barris and Peter Saji created the series. Karin Gist, Traces Ellis Ross, and Paul Goldman are credited as producers on the pilot episode.
