*Stephen “tWitch” Boss — the DJ for the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” — was allegedly stressed out from pressure related to Ellen’s “toxic workplace” scandal prior to his suicide.
According to Boss’ friend Todrick Hall, the online hate that Boss was receiving from the Ellen controversy may have contributed to his fragile state of mind before his death.
Back in 2020, DeGeneres was accused by several former employees of fostering a workplace culture of “racism, fear and intimidation”. At the time, Boss defended the talk show host.
“People were looking at him like, ‘Why are you still supporting this woman’,” Hall told Page Six, “and I think he was under a lot of pressure.”

Boss died by suicide at age 40. He allegedly took his own life at an L.A. hotel on Dec. 13.
“I don’t know what was going on in his life that may [have led] him to make that decision but I do understand,” Hall told Page Six.
“Right now when I get online some days like right now, if I was in the wrong position of where this abuse would keep happening for years and years and years, there’s only so much a human being can take,” he added.
“He was just somebody who always supported me. He was also kind and down to earth. He came over my house a couple of times and we shot TikTok videos together,” Hall said of Boss.
DeGeneres publicly commented on Boss’ death via a statement shared on Instagram: “I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia,” she wrote alongside a photo of her and tWitch hugging.
She also posted a video on Facebook showing her favorite moments with the “So You Think You Can Dance” star.
“Right now what I want to do is remember all the love and laughter I had with tWitch,” Ellen captioned the clip. “He brought so much joy to my life. I know he brought joy to yours too. I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite moments with him. If you want to you can also share yours. #ILovetWitch”.
