*In an exclusive interview, we spoke with the talented Maya Rudolph and Joel Kim Booster about the much-anticipated second season of the acclaimed series “Loot.”
The pair provided insights into their roles and the show’s evolution, and Rudolph revealed some of the exciting guest stars this season, including actor O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale).
According to the press release: “Loot” season two kicks off a year after Molly Wells (Rudolph) settles her very public divorce from tech billionaire John Novak (Adam Scott), and we find her thriving in her role as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation.”
The description continues, “Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men and embarks on a wellness journey. Fabulously single but not particularly independent, Molly keeps her trusty assistant Nicholas (Booster) by her side. He diligently caters to her every whim … and occasionally feeds her a kale smoothie spiked with gin.”

“I think the second season is exciting because now that we’ve laid all the groundwork, we really get to dive into Molly’s idea of cleansing,” Rudolph shared with EUR. “It’s going fully into wellness. ‘I made a bunch of mistakes. I’m going to clean that up by purifying myself.’ She’s doing all the things, which means Nicholas is really doing all the things, to start over. Fresh start,” the actress continued.
“You see her beautifying everything around her: the house, the office, everybody’s vibe in it. I think that’s a really fun place to start,” Rudolph said. “Then, just on top of that, I think all of the relationships really — the inter-office relationships really flourish because of that.”
Booster said there are “many layers” to Nicholas’ relationship with Molly this season.
“It’s so much more than just boss-employee,” he told us. “I think they’re best friends. I think there’s a weird twisted romance. Sometimes, she’s mommy. I’m baby. Sometimes, I’m mommy. She’s baby. I think at the heart of it is these two people that will have this unconditional sense of having each other’s backs,” Booster explained. “I think that is what ultimately really draws people into that relationship and makes it really exciting to play.”
Rudolph is the executive producer of “Loot,” which Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard created and executive produced.
The new season premieres globally on Wednesday, April 3, on Apple TV+. The first season of “Loot” is now streaming on the platform.
