*Tyrese has got some legal splaining to do when it comes to traveling expenses vs. child support.
Referencing court documents, RadarOnline detailed claims made by the “Lately” vocalist that he paid next to nothing for recent trips overseas.
Tyrese’s claims are the latest development in his ongoing child support case with ex-wife Samantha Lee. The former couple have been at war since last year, when Lee accused Tyrese of refusing to pay the $10,000 a month in child support he had been ordered to pay in full.
With Tyrese’s recent trips, Lee is trying to have the “Baby Boy” actor found in contempt. Tyrese is fighting the effort, stating he is unable to pay the full amount. The pair share a 4-year-old daughter named Soraya.
The back and forth between Tyrese and Lee is nothing new. Lee has gone on record with claims the singer paid her less than half of the required amount of child support in December 2023 and January 2024.
Responding to the allegations, Tyrese confessed that although he did not pay the child support in full, his actions were not malicious. According to the “Black Roses” entertainer, his income had dropped drastically since the child support order was entered.
Commenting on the situation, Tyrese’s lawyer cited his client’s involvement in the “Fast & Furious” franchise with his income being “the highest” over the years. With no work put in with the popular film series, things have financially gone down.
“…the years in which he films [a Fast & Furious] franchise movie, his income is the highest in those years. In 2022, [Gibson] filmed the franchise movie in question, and he has not filmed any segment in that franchise movie since 2022,” Tyrese’s attorney argued. “Consequently, [Gibson’s] income has fluctuated downward since the trial in this case, and as expected, [Gibson] does not earn the same amount that he earned in August 2022.”
Tyrese’s legal drama comes amid plans to film the final installment in the “Fast & Furious series. The Louis Leterrier-directed feature, a sequel to 2023’s “Fast X,” is slated to arrive in theaters in 2025.
