*Actor Carl Anthony Payne II, from the hit ‘90s sitcom “Martin,” sat down with Tamron Hall on March 10 for his first-ever talk show appearance and reflected on his reunion with his former castmates at the Emmy Awards.
During the conversation, Payne dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he has been raising Bobby Brown’s biological son, Landon Brown, since he was 5. The actor is married to Melika Payne, the mother of the boy who shares Landon with Brown, MadameNoire reports.
“He used to come over all the time, and I’d be like, it’s your turn to take him to school,” Payne said of Brown. “I’m sleeping in today,” he stated.
Elsewhere in the conversation; he also reflected on reuniting with his “Martin” co-stars during the Emmys in January.
Payne joined series stars Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, and Tichina Arnold to present the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
The “Martin” sitcom was one of the highest-rated shows during its run on Fox from 1992 to 1997. In the series, Campbell played Martin’s girlfriend, and Arnold played her best friend, Pam. Payne played Martin’s bestie, Cole. Co-star Thomas Mikal Ford, who played Tommy, passed away in 2016.
During their appearance at the Emmys, Payne was ready to deliver an acceptance speech after believing the cast had won their very first Emmy, but his co-stars had to remind him to take a chill pill.
“I was looking for my check. Yeah, I thought we was about to go to work again,” he said about the reunion on the “Tamron Hall” show.
“It feels great because once we did the reunion, that was the first time that we were all in the same place in the same space at the same time in over 30 years,” Payne added. “That was incredible because you have all these memories and all these feelings and everything starts rushing back in. We picked up like we never left.”
