“The Gentlemen ” is a Netflix series that originated from the 2019 film of the same name. This film made waves with its star-studded cast, including Matthew McConaughey who played the main character Mickey Pearson. While the new series released in 2024 was also created by Guy Ritchie, the action drama is a spinoff with all new characters. This new twist has even intrigued fans of the first iteration. The series follows Eddie Horniman (played by Theo James) as he discovers the secrets of his family estate, which he inherits from his father. Eddie is a captain in the British Army and the second son of the Duke of Halstead. So when he suddenly inherits responsibilities, he resents them. The plot thickens when the British aristocrat is thrown into a thriving weed empire. The criminal empire is operated by the notorious Bobby Glass, who has no intention of slowing down.

Gloucestershire

The Badminton Estate is located in the southern part of the Gloucestershire countryside. It has various buildings, gardens, vast yards and 22,000 acres of land. The estate is a great travel destination due to its well preserved elegance. It even has connections to the popular sport Badminton. The game, which was formerly known as Battledore and Shuttlecock, was invented and played at Badminton House around 1863. The game eventually came to be known as Badminton.

This grand property is so picturesque that it has become a popular place for weddings, touring, sporting events and filming. The property is easily accessible since it is a popular tourism destination, so there are public footpaths. Travelers should rely on taxis (depending on where they are coming from) since bus service to Badminton is limited. The estate was selected for filming of the series due to the main houses’ noble air and sophistication. Viewers may recognize it from the Netflix hit series “Bridgerton” or the films “Pearl Harbour” and “28 Days Later”. This property represents the legacy of privilege and was used so that the dodgy characters could clash with it.

Where to Stay: The Badminton campsites is a popular place for travelers to stay since it provides a ‘glamping’ experience. The De Vere Tortworth Court Hotel is the official place to stay during the Badminton Horse Trials. It is only 25 minutes away from the Badminton Estate.

Guildford

Guildford is a filming location of the series "The Gentlemen" on Netflix.

Guildford is a southern town and district of Surrey, England. The spacious Loseley Park sits on 1,400 acres of English countryside and is a beautiful tourism destination. The Loseley Park house is a compelling piece of British history, since it dates back to the 16th century. There is a plethora of well preserved historically significant furniture and art pieces throughout the house. So visitors can experience the authentic nature of the grounds.

Travelers can also enjoy the botanical gardens, which cover 2.5 acres of land. There are even different sections of the garden for travelers to enjoy. A few of the garden sections include the walled garden, herb garden, organic vegetable garden and the rose garden. Travelers can view the gardens of the park by guided tour only. This means that it is important to book ahead of time. Access to the house and garden incur separate fees and travelers can explore with tours throughout the day.

Travelers can observe the stunning views of the tudor style home in Loseley Park. The breathtaking landscape makes its easy to understand why it was utilized for aesthetic shots in “The Gentlemen”. The Loseley house was used as a main filming location in the original movie. But the property was used in less significant ways for the series. Shots of this real manor were added to create a more believable Halstead manor. This includes inside shots and exterior shots to depict the Halstead’s woods. This same house was even featured in the Netflix series “The Crown”.

Pall Mall is a street in central London that is popular for its clubs. The Reform Club, which is located on the south side of Pall Mall, is another filming location that adds to the authenticity of the story line. The Reform Club is a private member’s club that has political beginnings. The club then transformed into a social space with many high profile members. It boasts exquisite architecture by the renowned Sir Charles Barry. Since it is a private organization, its location is quite posh and luxurious. The club is owned and controlled by its members and is now considered a prestigious social club. The Reform Club’s clubhouse hosts private events for its members. Members can utilize the rooms of the central club for business meetings, dinners, weddings, conferences and other events.

In the Netflix series, viewers got an exclusive view of the Reform Club since it doubled as Pinky’s Club. The unique historical features of the club made it an ideal location for filming. The artifacts, furnishings and art collections are just some of the things that make the club one of a kind. The club is not open to the general public. But groups can tour for a small donation towards the clubs’ conservation trust.

London

London is one of the most popular places travelers can go in England, but it also is where "The Gentlemen" series was filmed.

London, England is an iconic travel destination, so it is no surprise that it is home to wildly popular attractions. It is, of course, where a lot of the action takes place in “The Gentlemen”. The greater London metropolitan area served as the perfect backdrop to contrast the serene and spacious grounds of Halstead manor.

The main location utilized for filming in London was the Alperton Studios. The interior of a council flat was created at the studios so that it could be recreated in much bigger size. This decision helped create ample room for Eddie to tussle with a goon in a seemingly realistic setting. Another London building that was utilized is the event space Rotherhithe’s Printworks. It was the space where the illegal boxing fight occurred (in episode two), but the venue has since closed. Travelers may recognize some of the background that was featured in the series. Some locations that travelers may recognize on screen are Canary Wharf’s Billingsgate Market, The Sekforde pub and St. Paul’s Church.

Hertfordshire is a non-metropolitan area in southeastern England that is located north of London. It is known for its historic estates, stunning countryside views and top of line real estate. The beauty of Hertfordshire’s parkland is showcased at Wrotham Park. Wrotham Park is a sprawling landscape in Hertfordshire. Travelers may recognize it from “Kingsman: The Secret Service”, “Bridgerton” and “The Crown”. Around 2,500 acres of lush green space surround the Wrotham Park house, which is a large private venue. The grand architecture of the house made the estate a great location to show off the grandeur of the tycoon Stanley Johnston. The house is not open to the public, but does host some events. These include wedding receptions, corporate get togethers and private parties.

Things to Do: The top attractions of the area are the Hertfordshire Zoo, St. Albans Cathedral, Westmill Farm and Rye House go-karting. 

Where to Eat: El Bar de Tapas, The Albert Inn and the Cast Iron Grill are popular spots around Hertfordshire that tourists and locals enjoy. 

Where to Stay: The Grove Hotel, Sopwell House and Kings Arms Inn are some of the most popular accommodations in Hertfordshire.
