*Mike Epps admits to grappling with “survivor’s remorse” and guilt about his success, particularly when considering the struggles of his less fortunate friends.
“I’ve been through hell… I did most of the movies on cocaine…” said Mike on a recent podcast episode of the “All the Smoke” podcast, Essentially Sports reports.
He also reminisced about his experience working on the “Friday” sequel alongside co-star Ice Cube, recalling a moment of vulnerability when he found himself in tears in his trailer. Cube offered consolation and words of encouragement during that difficult time.
“I’m sitting there wiping myself because I had survivor’s remorse,” Epps revealed.
He further admitted feeling sad upon achieving fame as his friends harbored resentment towards him for his success.
“So I said, damn, I got to destroy myself for you to like me. I was like, damn, my favorite ni*ga. It seemed like he liked me more when I’m coming down off coke and I’m crying and I hate myself,” said Epps.
Elsewhere in the interview, Epps claims he was passed over for the role of late comedian Richard Pryor because he refused to sleep with his widow Jennifer Lee Pryor.
“I was gonna play Richard Pryor man, and then his wife—I didn’t screw his wife, his ex-wife and she got mad,” Epps said on All The Smoke.
Lee Pryor reacted to the remarks in a statement to The Daily Beast. “That’s just low-rent,” she said, adding, “You’re just ghetto, Mike.
