*Stylist Tameka Foster is speaking out about going into cardiac arrest while undergoing liposuction in 2009.
“I went in an attempt to have liposuction and I went into a cardiac arrest with the anesthesiologist,” Foster told People in a new interview, Page Six reports. “The doctor never even entered the room.”
The harrowing incident motivated Foster to find healthier alternatives for weight loss.
“I still care about looks and vanity, but I plan to do it the natural way. That’s all,” the “Bold & Bougie” star explained.
“[The health scare] made me be a little less lazy about getting to my goals, and I just changed my diet and now I do intermittent fasting and things like that,” Foster said.
According to People, Foster, Usher’s ex-wife, lost 20 pounds on her new health regimen.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that Usher is also reflecting on his past and marriage to Foster. In a new interview, he unpacked the adverse fan reaction to their romance. The R&B crooner married the fashion designer in 2007 and immediately faced backlash from people criticizing Foster’s age and skin tone.
“I think I became very closed and then felt attacked in many ways,” Usher told People.
“It was a bit unconventional in a time when I felt like my female fans were judgmental of the woman that I chose,” he added.
Usher also noted that Foster, who’s seven years his senior, “was a dark-skinned woman, and maybe they didn’t want to love her in a way because of maybe some reason that had to do with themselves,” he continued.
“I don’t know. Or maybe she was not the best reference because of how she handled herself. That’s not for me to be concerned about. I did my part and what I thought was right,” the superstar added.
Usher and Tameka share two kids, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 16, and Naviyd Ely, 15.
