*We caught up with Hollywood veteran Ernie Hudson to discuss what fans can expect to see in the “Quantum Leap” two-hour Season 2 finale airing Feb. 20 at 9 p.m.
The science fiction series is a revival of the 1989 show created by Donald P. Bellisario. Hudson stars in the reboot as Herbert “Magic” Williams, a no-nonsense career military man who helms the highly confidential Quantum Leap accelerator operation.
Per the Season 2 series synopsis, “It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team, led by physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), has been assembled to restart the project in the hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.”
The description continues, “Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.”
The rest of the team includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy,” and Jenn Chu (Nanrisa Lee), leads the digital security for the project.
“As Ben leaps from life to life, putting right what once went wrong, it becomes clear that he and the team are on a thrilling journey,” according to the release.
In tonight’s two-hour season finale, “Ben leaps into the body of a Baltimore firefighter in 1974 and is unexpectedly reunited with his time-crossed love, Hannah, and her son, Jeffrey,” reads the synopsis for episode 212 titled “As the World Burns.”
During the second hour, in episode 213, titled “Against Time,” Ben finds himself behind the wheel of a speeding stock car in 1976, but a terrifying threat from the future could sabotage the leap.”
In our exclusive interview with Mr. Hudson, he talks about Magic’s journey in the final two episodes and what he hopes the show’s legacy will be for future generations of viewers. Check out what he had to say in the clip below.
