Real name Arnez Blount, was taken off life support after being admitted weeks ago for a stroke, according to an article by TMZ.
The rapper was a founding member of the Long Beach, California-based hip hop trio The Dove Shack along with Bo-Roc and 2Scoops.
C-Knight was hospitalized on October 18 in the wake of a disturbing blood sugar test result, according to a previous report by TMZ.
Hi father, George Lee Washington Blount Jr., told the publication that C-Knight suffers from diabetes and was taken for a dialysis session to help with his extremely high blood sugar levels.
However, while undergoing a round of dialysis he allegedly suffered a stroke.
Blount also said his son had gone into cardiac arrest during the medical crisis.
After his heart stopped, C-Knight was reportedly resuscitated by responding doctors.
However, his father saID that since he was put on life support, he remained ‘unresponsive,’ and doctors did not see any signs of improvement in his condition yet.
The family waited for the results of an MRI scan of brain activity before he was taken off life support.
Though C-Knight and The Dove Shack never had the massive success that some of their contemporaries who got their start in the 1990s did, the group was still an influential hip hop outfit.
The trio released its debut album This Is The Shack in 1995, which subsequently peaked at number 68 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and number 13 on the R&B chart.
After 11 years, the trio returned for 2006’s LP Reality Has Got Me Tied Up, which failed to chart.
In between, C-Knight released his 2001 solo album Knight Time.
The group was slotted in the G-funk subgenre, a form of West Coast gansta rap that utilized synthesizer-heavy samples from 1970s and ’80s funk bands like Parliament–Funkadelic and similar groups.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg made early classic examples of the subgenre with The Chronic (1992) and Doggystyle (1993), and Warren G was also an important innovator.
C-Knight initially called it quits after their second album went nowhere, though they reassembled in 2017 and ’18.
In an Instagram post shared four days after C-Knight’s hospitalization, his bandmate Bo-Roc shared a photo of him and asked his fans for prayers for his colleague.
‘I’m literally begging all who see’s this post to pray for my brother from another mother and one of my closest friends in the world Arnez a.k.a C Knight from the Dove Shack,’ he wrote.
‘He’s the founder of the Dove Shack and the reason I had the opportunity to make #summertimeinthelbc for the world so please please send him positive energy and healing prayers,’ he added, referencing the group’s highest-charting single.
