*“They seem to enjoy it,” said Country Music’s rising star Makenzie Phipps about her fans’ response to her hot new single “You Bring the Beer (I’ll Bring the Noise).” “There’s been TV performances of it, and everyone seems to enjoy it.”
The up-tempo traditional Country sounding project brings Country music to current-day vibes thanks to Makenzie’s perfect vocals. It was premiered on RFD TV, a rural streaming network dedicated to rural lifestyles, and traditional Country music and performances.
“I was recording in the studio…trying to pick something more upbeat,” Phipps explained when I asked where the song came from. “I asked my drummer, who is my backup singer, to write a song. He incorporated where I grew up in the lyrics…we just moved to Nashville. He added the beer…it was football season, and you know…they love their beer.”
And a hit song was born because Makenzie Phipps made it so. It seems all her life Makenzie has been singing, at minor league games, fairs, festivals, talent shows and “Honky Tonks.” Her Facebook performances of “Amazing Grace” and “Travelin’ Soldier” have accumulated over two million views. Her performance of Alan Jackson’s “I Want to Scroll Over Heaven with You” went viral in 48 hours reaching one million views immediately and currently, it’s over two million.
“I started at 14… playing for a brunch of drunk people,” she laughed when I asked. “I was in my mid-teens when I knew what I wanted to do. It’s been a love/hate relationship. I love to do it, but people try to knock me down.”
The “You Bring the Beer (I Bring the Noise)” single is from her upcoming EP.
“We have three songs for the EP and three more coming,” Makenzie said.
To secure her future Phipps attended college and received an associate degree in music. An all-around artist, Makenzie not only sings and write songs, but plays the guitar and the keyboards.
“I graduated high school during Covid….community college was free, so we took the opportunity. I can always continue that degree,” she added.
A native of West Virginia, Makenzie Phipps’ family is very supportive of her, moving to Nashville to help her make her Country music dream come true. You need only listen to her sing to know that Phipps reaching that goal is inevitable. The Josie Music Awards (“Female Country Song of the Year”) and Songwriter Achievement Award winner can be found on social media streaming live, which currently receives over 15, 000 monthly visitors. www.MakenziePhipps.com
