*Jason Derulo is facing a lawsuit from an aspiring singer who claims he sexually harassed her after signing her to a record deal.
Emaza Gibson is taking legal action against Derulo, alleging he signed her to a record deal with the intention of having sexual relations with her, Page Six reports. The musician has denied the allegation via Instagram.
“I have anxiety; I’m traumatized,” Gibson told NBC News Thursday.
Gibson met the R&B crooner in August 2021 and he later signed her to a record deal to create a mixtape and an album. The songstress alleges in her lawsuit that Derulo frequently brought booze and drugs to their recording sessions and “once asked her to partake in “goat skin and fish scales,” which is a sex ritual, NBC News reports.
The woman claims Derulo was making an “explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success.”

In her lawsuit, she recalls one instance in September 2021 when she felt “pressure” to drink “inappropriately large amounts of alcohol” during a recording session, Page Six reports.
The lawsuit alleges that Gibson was subjected to Derulo’s aggressive behavior and unwanted wine and dine invitations. There are also implications that her safety was dependent upon her having sex with him, according to the alleged victim.
“I’m at this point in my life right now, it’s very heartbreaking,” Gibson told NBC News. “I’ve dealt with inhumane work situations. … I’m at this point where I’m back to zero and I have nothing.”
Gibson details in the lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court that Derulo dropped her record deal after she repeatedly rejected his sexual advances.
“I’m just trying to fight for what’s right because what was done to me was not OK,” said Gibson. As Page Six reports, she is suing the artist for “intimidation, illegal retaliatory termination, and breach of contract,” the outlet writes.
“And I wouldn’t want anybody else to go through what I went through. They wasted my time. They promised me things. … ‘Forget the contract.’ That’s what I was told. But if I wasn’t going to do, if I wasn’t doing my part according to this contract, I would be in trouble. I would be held accountable.”
Derulo posted a video response to the lawsuit on Instagram.
“I wouldn’t normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful,” he said. “I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams. I’ve always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that’s why I sit here before you deeply offended, by these defamatory claims. God bless.”
