*Former guard and Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson is looking to join the Knicks’ broadcast team next season.
According to a report by Andrew Marchand of The New York Post (via NBA Central), Jackson is eyeing a gig at the MSG Network, which would see him fill in for former Knicks player Walt Frazier on road broadcasts. Next season, Frazier, 78, plans to reduce his travel schedule, The Cold Wire reports.
Marchand also noted that Jackson has money left on his contract with ESPN and will likely need the network’s permission to take on the job with the Knicks’ broadcast team. Jackson ran the team’s offense from 1987-1992.
Jackson worked at ESPN for over a decade before he was laid off this summer.
“It’s sad because we really thought we had something special and … we were able to do it a lot longer than anybody ever did,’ NBA announcer Mike Breen told The New York Post about the firings of his long-time broadcast partners, Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy.

“It’s something we’ll all treasure, but we just wish it was a little bit longer,” Breen added. “You don’t expect it, because it was such a great team and to have it completely broken up was a surprise.”
“They were the dream partners,” Breen told The Post. “All the accomplishments were because of what we did together. I really do feel personally any success I had was because I had those two guys next to me. They just provided everything you would want in analysts. They’re smart. They’re funny. They’re knowledgeable about their sport. They’re opinionated. They love their sport, but are not afraid to criticize. They just had a little bit of everything.”
