*The legal battle between Nia Long and her ex-fiancé Ime Udoka for custody of their 11-year-old son has taken a new turn.
Radar Online cites court documents that reveal Udoka’s desire for joint legal and physical custody of Kez Sunday Udoka, in addition to visitation.
The move comes in response to a ‘Petition to Determine Parental Relationship’ Long filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in August.
The “Love Jones” star claimed Udoka “failed to support” their child in her filing, asking the court to award her primary legal and physical custody. Regarding visitation, Long stated the former Boston Celtics coach should have “reasonable visitation” that is “consistent with the child’s best interest.”
Long’s filing arrived months after her former flame generated headlines when he was suspended by the Celtics for “multiple” policy violations. Weeks later, revelations came about the coach having an affair with a female co-worker within the Celtics organization.
In his response to Long’s filing, Udoka made his opposition to the entertainer’s request for him to cover her attorney fees known, stating that they should be responsible for their own bills.
Long and Udoka’s legal drama is a far cry from how the couple were when they started dating in 2009 and later became engaged in 2015. In December, Long broke news that she ended her relationship with Udoka after 13 years together.
