*Lizzo’s former stylist is suing the singer and supervisors of Big Grrrl Big Touring for sexual and racial harassment, disability discrimination.
As TMZ reports, Asha Daniels says she joined Lizzo’s tour in 2023 to work in wardrobe and was ultimately subjected to inappropriate working conditions, including retaliation, and assault.
According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Daniels, a Black woman, says she was hired by Amanda Nomura — a member of Lizzo’s team — who allegedly made “racist and fatphobic comments — allegedly calling Black women on the tour “dumb” “useless” and “fat,” TMZ writes.
Additionally, Daniels was not allowed to dress sexy around Lizzo because the artist “would get jealous when her boyfriend was around other beautiful women,” per TMZ.
Daniels claims the overall experience on Lizzo’s tour left her with ongoing anxiety and PTSD. She also suffers from “migraines, ocular distortions, brain fog and fatigue,” TMZ writes.
Her lawsuit comes after Lizzo was sued last month by 3 former dancers who claim they were subjected to sexual harassment, fatphobia, discrimination, and toxic work conditions.
Lizzo accepted the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) gala in Los Angeles last night, hours after she was hit with a second lawsuit.
She took the stage and told the crowd during her acceptance speech, “I really needed this right now. God’s timing is on time.”
Lizzo also shouted out Black-led organizations to which she donated $250,000 earlier this year.
“It’s easy to do the right thing when everybody’s watching you, and it’s what you do in those moments where nobody’s watching that defines who you are,” she said of her humanitarian work. “And I’m going to continue to be who I am, no matter who’s watching. I’m going to continue to shine a light on the people who are helping people because they deserve it. I’m going to continue to amplify the voices of marginalized people because I have a microphone and I know how to use it. And I’m going to continue to put on and represent and create safe spaces for Black, fat women because that’s what the f*** I do. It is my purpose and it is an honor.”
