*It’s nearing the celebration of Black History Month 2023 in the United Kingdom as October looms. Creative and Cartoon artist TAYO Fatunla has busied himself also commemorating 75 years of Windrush illustrations in Britain through his carefully selected people who one way and another helped shape Britain as it is today to mark the anniversary.
His, The Windrush Story illustrations in full colour, are on display at Camberwell Library in South East London.
TAYO through his educational drawings, continues to be passionate about the need for children and descendants of HMT Empire Windrush arrivals and Windrush and the Windrush generation, to be educated and well-informed about the importance and migration of people from the Caribbean to Britain onboard Windrush which set sail to Britain.
Britain had suffered greatly during the course of the Second World War and In 1948 the British Nationality Act was passed and created a new citizenship for Great Britain which allowed those in the Commonwealth the chance to relocate to Great Britain and work legally. This act also helped fill the labour gap in the country and people from the Caribbean benefited from this.
The illustrated WINDRUSH Story exhibition by TAYO Fatunla is on display at Camberwell Library in London, UK
Where there is life there is hope.
It was World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September. Events preventing suicide within the Black community anywhere in the world is welcome and gives for a better understanding to all and to those that have been affected by it. Giving hope through a series of actions can signal to people experiencing suicidal thoughts that where there is life, there is hope and that people, many, care and would want to support them.
