*Shannon Sharpe slipped up and called Stephen A. Smith “Skip” during a debate on ESPN’s “First Take” on Monday.
Smith wore a name tag for Tuesday’s show, prompting Sharpe to burst into laughter. Fans also found the move amusing, with one person writing on X (formally Twitter), “Strive for this level of pettiness.”
Another X user added, “I bet that messed up Shannon’s focus for a minute!.” A third commented, “… thank you for playing it cool with Unk and making it a joke. Help him shed some of that nervousness.”
Sharpe made his “First Take” debut on September 4, after parting ways with Slip Bayelss on FS1’s “Undisputed.” Sharpe will join Smith every Monday and Tuesday during the NFL season, according to the New York Post.

Smith confirmed during a broadcast last month that Sharpe would be joining him at ESPN.
“I honestly didn’t know I had an announcement to make until literally 60 seconds ago, but I was informed that it’s official,” Smith told viewers at the time, Uproxx reported.
“It’s all about not standing still and taking it to another level, and official, this morning, Mr. Shannon Sharpe will be joining the crew,” Smith continued. “He will be joining First Take, it is official, Shannon Sharpe is coming to First Take. He will debut Monday, September 4th, he will be on here every Monday and Tuesday with yours truly, of course, the crew — Dan Orlovsky, Kimberly, Marcus Spears, Mad Dog Russo, Ryan Clark and the crew.”

Sharpe and Bayless launched FS1’s “Undisputed” in 2016, but growing tension in the past year allegedly prompted Sharpe to leave the show in June.
Shannon and Fox Sports decided on a buyout agreement and parted ways amicably this summer, according to the New York Post.
