*Jaden Smith’s events in China, planned for Friday to Sunday, were delayed after the rapper was accused of making offensive remarks about the country.

Smith was scheduled to perform in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen from Friday to Sunday. On Wednesday, the event organizer announced that refunds would be issued after the artist was accused of making controversial comments about China.

The delay was announced after a user on the Chinese lifestyle app Xiaohongshu claimed to have overheard Smith’s remarks. As Global Times reports, the Chinese netizen happened to be in the same train cabin that Smith and his team traveled on from Kyoto to Tokyo in Japan on August 19.

“Someone asked Jaden his opinion on different countries including China. Jaden replied with ‘F*** China.’ Smith repeatedly made derogatory remarks about China,” the poster wrote.

The post went on to claim that Smith and his team were “drinking, laughing, banging the tray table and making these offensive comments very loudly,” the outlet writes.

The witness also posted photos and a video of Smith and his team on the train. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture their offensive comments in the video,” the post read.

There is no solid evidence of Smith making these questionable statements but the event organizer in China canceled him anyway.

Smith has not commented on the incident. He reportedly turned off the comments for his recent posts after fans flooded his account demanding an explanation. An Instagram story about his appearances in China noted that “Rescheduled dates will be announced soon,” Smith wrote.

Meanwhile, in the comments section of the Global Times report, one user questioned if Smith is a “good a role model for the Chinese male youths to emulate?” Another person added, “I wish Chinese government would minimize the west influence on Chinese youth.”

A third person wrote, “The western media has brainwashed the world to hate China. China needs to invest more in media power.”
