(Disclaimer: The following story has spoiler alerts.)
For all of the “Sex and the City Fans” out there, it’s safe to say that we’ve all dreamt of having a pad like Carrie Bradshaw’s chic New York brownstone. From her killer walk-in closet to paying a whopping $700 a month for rent (Oh, how we wish it was the 90’s again), it is without a doubt that Carrie Bradshaw was surely one the luckiest girls amongst New York’s elite.
And though a girl could only dream about living in Carrie’s pad when the show was originally released, her “Sex and the City” apartment was listed on Airbnb (a literal dream come true) for guests of two to stay per night. From sipping on cosmopolitans to getting a real-life glimpse of Carrie’s notorious tutu, guests were finally able to live out their dreams of experiencing a full-on Bradshaw universe.
Whether it’s her vibrant style to her incredibly affordable apartment, there’s certainly one thing we are all dying to know—Where exactly was Carrie’s one-bedroom located? Ahead, is everything you need to know about the chic fictional New York writer’s crib and more.

For just $700 a month, Carrie rented out a West Village flat located at 245 E73rd Street, between Park and Madison, New York. And though the address is purely fictional, the apartment is surely real and is visited by “Sex and the City” lovers to this day. Sadly, the building was put up for sale in 2012 by Sotheby’s International Realty for $9.6 million, though still remains a popular attraction. The West Village brownstone has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and six fireplaces carved with marble mantels. A large south-facing garden is also included.

For those who haven’t seen the newest “Sex and the City” reboot, “And Just Like That,” we have no choice but to disclose that, Carrie does eventually end up selling her $700 apartment for a Gramercy Park apartment in Chelsea. And though her new abode is also to die for, fans can’t help but think, “Why in the hell would she do that now that the real estate market and economic inflation are at an all-time high?” Moreover, Carrie’s decision to move uptown has even caused many financial advisors to advise against her moving, as her rent-controlled apartment in West Village is a practically impossible deal to find anywhere else. Not to mention, she’s had the apartment for the past 30 years which is rent-controlled (let’s normalize rent-controlled apartments!). Furthermore, (upcoming spoiler alert) for Carrie to sell her $700 crib to make a man in her life happy just as he decides to leave town, is just downright not typical Carrie Bradshaw behavior. However, it’s also true to say that Carrie is at a different stage in her life, and that change is well, inevitable. All in all, it’s said that Carrie’s new Upper East Side pad is estimated at a whopping $4.5 million plus extra fees, taxes, and closing costs- That’s right Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore!
What currently serves as one of the best TV shows ever released, stars five main characters: Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, and of course, her ridiculously low-priced New York brownstone. And as we near the fourth season of “And Just Like That,” fans will not only remember Carrie’s $700 apartment as an extension of her world but a world we all once, and currently, dream of living in.
