Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel “Dune: Part Two” was originally set to release on Nov. 3, but Warner Brothers is moving it to March 15, 2024.

The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, and Dave Bautista who will reprise their roles from the original 2021 film, while Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken also join the cast, per EW

Per the official synopsis: Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

EUR reported previously that Villeneuve said “Dune: Part Two” will serve up more action than his first installment.

“The epicenter of the story is this relationship,” he told Vanity Fair.

Part One is more of a contemplative movie. Part Two is an action-packed, epic war movie. It is much more dense. We went to all new locations,” said Villeneuve at CinemaCon earlier this year, per The Hollywood Reporter.  “I didn’t want a feeling of repetition. It’s all new sets. Everything is new.”

The first “Dune” was simultaneously released in theaters and on HBO Max, and earned $400 million at the box office.

Villeneuve directed “Dune” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert.

Meanwhile, as EW reports, WB and Legendary’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” has also moved from its original release date of March 15, 2024, to April 12, 2024, and the animated film “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” was rescheduled from April 12, 2024, to Dec. 13, 2024.
