*“Love and Hip Hop” star Tommie Lee was arrested in Miami over the weekend following a verbal dispute at a restaurant.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, officers discovered cocaine on the 37-year-old star, real name Atasha Jefferson, who is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and breaching the peace.
In response to the allegations, Tommie Lee’s defense team claims the star was carrying her friend’s epilepsy medicine, not cocaine.
“They chose to handcuff and arrest her on grounds of drug possession, despite the fact that the “drugs” were, in fact, her friend’s epilepsy medication,” her reps said. Apparently, the officers seized the medication so they could arrest her, Lee alleges.
“They seized upon this as an excuse for her arrest when no other valid reason was evident. It’s completely understandable that she felt infuriated by this unjust treatment, especially when she was spending her own hard-earned money,” the reps continued.
Lee’s team claims she was threatened by an intoxicated individual at the restaurant she left when police confronted her.
Hot New Hip Hop reports that Tommy Lee appears to still be in jail. Police are currently investigating the case.
We reported previously that Lee was facing up to 54 years in jail for being a disruptive hot a** mess at her daughter’s middle school in 2018. But a judge decided not to send her to prison if she stays out of trouble for the next ten years.
The case stemmed from Lee reportedly causing a scene at her daughter’s school after receiving a call from a teacher that her child was being disrespectful. When the reality TV star arrived on campus, she reportedly slapped the kid and dragged her by her hair down the hall, and slammed her daughter against a locker.
Lee pleaded guilty to 5 charges — including first-degree cruelty to children, TMZ reported. In 2019, the judge gave her a 10-year sentence but instead of going to prison, she was ordered to complete a residential recovery program and 12 months of aftercare with licensed doctors.
Lee has struggled with alcohol abuse in the past and was previously busted in possession of cocaine.
