*Michael Irvin is joining the rotating A-list hosts of FS1’s “Undisputed.”
According to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, Irvin, along with fellow former NFL stars Richard Sherman and Keyshawn Johnson will join Skip Bayless in a new format of the show.
When “Undisputed” returns on Aug. 28, the network will apply its latest philosophy which moves away from the “embrace debate” format, NBC News reports.
Sherman will “go at it with Bayless on around 50-100 shows per year, mostly during football season,” according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post. He will also continue to host the Thursday Night Football studio show on Amazon Prime Video.
Irvin, Sherman, and Johnson are joining “Undisputed” after Shannon Sharpe’s departure from the show in June.
We reported previously that Shannon and Fox Sports decided on a buyout agreement and parted ways amicably, according to the New York Post. Many sports fans believe the tension between Sharpe and Bayless over the past few months led to Shannon’s exit.
“Shannon’s exit moved way faster than they expected,” a source told Front Office. “So they had no choice but to go on hiatus. Skip has never done anything like this during all his years at FS1 or ESPN. Not being on the air during all these NBA moves is killing him.”
Meanwhile, Irvin was removed from NFL Network’s coverage of this year’s Super Bowl after he was accused of being inappropriate with a white woman at an Arizona hotel.
As we previously reported, the woman claims she had a disturbing encounter with Irvin in the lobby of the hotel days before Super Bowl LVII. The allegations prompted the NFL Network to drop him from hosting coverage of the big game.
Irvin’s filed a $100 million dollar defamation lawsuit against Marriott after the hotel released a video of his encounter with the accuser who claims he made unwanted sexual comments to her.
Irvin has maintained his innocence, and his defamation lawsuit accuses Marriott of wrongful interference in a business relationship, according to multiple reports.
