*Elon Musk isn’t taking the potential UFC fight with Mark Zuckerberg seriously.

Zuckerberg took to his Threads account Sunday to announce he won’t be fighting Musk in a mixed martial arts bout. According to the Facebook CEO, Musk has too many excuses, so Mark is moving on, Complex reports.

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” Zuckerberg wrote on Threads. “I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.”

He continued, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

Musk confirmed recently on X (formally Twitter) that a hotly anticipated fight between him and the Meta CEO is still in the works.

According to the Tesla founder, the proceeds would go to veterans.

We reported previously that UFC president Dana White said Musk and Zuckerberg are “dead serious” about fighting in the Octagon.

In June, Zuckerberg accepted Musk’s “cage match” challenge on Twitter. White told TMZ Sports that he spoke with both men about the potential face-off.

“Mark Zuckerberg hit me up first and said ‘is he serious?’” White told the outlet. When he contacted Musk, the Tesla CEO told him: “Yeah, I’m dead serious.”

White was apparently helping plan the event, which he said: “will be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world, bigger than anything that’s ever been done.” White added, “It would break all pay-per-view records.”

A UFC pay-per-view usually costs $80, but White said a Musk-Zuckerberg match would cost viewers $100. Musk originally suggested Las Vegas as the location for the fight and later Rome. But he has to first undergo minor surgery on his shoulder blade before the face-off can happen.

“The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC),” Musk wrote on X. “Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location.”

He added, “Bottom line is that my C5/C6 fusion is solid, so not an issue. However, there is a problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs, which requires minor surgery. Recovery will only take a few months.”
