*We caught up with Craig Robinson, Claudia O’Doherty, and Rell Battle before the SAG strike to speak out about the new season of the hit Peacock series “Killing It.”
Robinson also serves as an executive producer on the show, set to premiere August 17 on Peacock. You can also catch up on Season 1, streaming now on Peacock.
Here’s the synopsis for season two: “Killing It is a comedy about class, capitalism, and one man’s quest to achieve the American Dream. But first, he has to overcome vicious criminals, nature run wild, and worst of all, corporate America. Starring Craig Robison as Craig, Claudia O’Doherty as Jillian, Rell Battle as Isiah, Scott MacArthur as Brock, and Stephanie Nogueras as Camille.”
“Well, we’re back for more “Killing It.” It’s the same wild rollercoaster as last year — an ambitious, complex exploration of life and pursuit of the American Dream mixed in with some of the stupidest jokes on television,” said Robinson in a statement.
“We got so many amazing guest stars this season, while returning all our old favorites. Except for the snakes. There are many less snakes this year. But don’t worry, there’s plenty more hurdles to jump through, like deadly snails,” Robinson continued.
“Well, we start the season on the farm. Jillian’s farming, she’s a farmer now. It’s a little time jump from season one. Rather than it starting right from when they win the python hunting competition,” O’Doherty told us in an exclusive interview. “They’ve already set up the Saul Palmetto Berry Farm and we get to see Jillian out of such a state of pure survival mode and getting into more of who is she when she’s not just trying to get some money for food. We get to know more about her and the stuff we learn is that she can be quite violent.”
When asked about the obstacles and challenges that Jillian and Craig experience this season, O’Doherty said “Well, I think in any good story things can’t go smoothly and things never go smoothly for Craig and Jillian. Their biggest adversary in season two is the Swamp Mafia who come and try to steal our farm from us. Jillian’s really scared of them and she’s correct to me, they’re very scary.”
When it comes to Jillian’s standout episodes this season, Doherty said, “I really love seeing episode two where Jillian unleashes her fury on the people who steal her car. I really never expected to be doing fight scenes ever in my life, so it was very shocking for me to be doing that and really fun. Also, we get to see, there’s a strip club that the Swamp Mafia own called Carpets, and I’ve realized that the building we used was the same building in the video clip for “Padam Padam,” the Kylie Minogue song. That’s really exciting for me and I can’t wait for people to check that out.”
