The Upshaws Part 4 is on its way to Netflix, and this time, Jenifer Lewis and Marsha Warfield are joining the party.
The streamer‘s hit sitcom starring Mike Epps and Kim Fields will drop its latest installment on Aug. 17. During this season, Lewis will guest star in three episodes as Dr. Pearl Edmunds, Regina’s (Fields) new “no-nonsense therapist helping her to strike a balance between the prioritization of herself, her mental health and her countless family obligations.” Warfield will also guest star in one episode, but her role hasn’t yet been revealed. However, from the first-look images, she looks as if she means business and will enforce it with style.
The Upshaws stars Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes (who also stars). The series is executive produced by Epps, Sykes, Hicks, Page Hurwitz, Niles Kirchner, Annie Levine Emerson and Jonathan Emerson. Along with Epps, Fields and Sykes, the series also stars Diamond Lyons, Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, Gabrielle Dennis and Journey Christine.
The series follows Bennie Upshaw (Epps) and his family as they face life and rebuild from infidelity and other life challenges. According to the official synopsis:
Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working class family in Indianapolis, is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family: his wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) — and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success. But the Upshaws are determined to make it work, and make it to the next level, together. In this upcoming part, the Upshaws continue to ride life’s ups and downs, including new jobs, bigger dreams, health struggles and some major life surprises but still hanging on with the love that comes with family.
