‘The Exorcist: Believer’ Trailer: Leslie Odom Jr. And Ellen Burstyn Scare Up Some Thrills – Shadow and Act

The horrifying first trailer for The Exorcist: Beiliver, starring Leslie Odom Jr., has been released by Universal and Blumhouse.

The horror film hits theaters on Friday, October 13, exactly 50 years since the release of the original film, The Exorcist.

The film is a new chapter and reboot/sequel of the classic franchise from Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green.

The trailer features two young demonically possessed girls who turn up after being supposedly kidnapped. Ellen Burstyn, who played Chris Macneil in the original film, shows up in the trailer to offer assistance as she has a lot of experience dealing with a young daughter who has been possessed.

Here is the official logline for the film:

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Odom Jr.) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett) on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

The cast also includes Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles and Norbert Leo Butz.

Gordon Green wrote the script with Peter Sattler, based on characters developed by William Peter Blatty.

Jason Blum for Blumhouse and David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment are producing the film. Executive producers include Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer.
