The St. Lucia Tourism Authority is challenging intrepid guests to the “Three Peaks Challenge.” This rigorous challenges pushes travelers to climb the three signature peaks, Gros Piton, Petit Piton and Mount Gimie, back to back.
Here’s what to know about this adventure.
What Does the Challenge Entail?
The 758 Adventurers connect those who take the Three Peaks Challenge with an experienced guide.
The founders, Julian Toussaint and Jason Sayers, are adventure seekers themselves. Toussaint holds the Three Peaks Challenge record. It took him just over 5 hours to scale all three mountains. For perspective, the average climber needs about 3 to 4 hours to finish Gros Piton.
You can take your pick from two experiences. The first is the traditional Three Peaks Challenge, which is done within 24 hours. Pricing includes access to the peaks, private accommodation transfers, breakfast, lunch and electrolytes.
The second experience entails climbing the peaks over a few days. You’ll have to arrange your own transportation and snacks, and your guide will meet you at a pre-arranged point in Soufrière.
You’ll need proper clothes, footwear and sunblock. In the event of inclement weather, the excursion will be rescheduled or you can ask for a refund.
Contact The 758 Adventurers or the St. Lucia Tourism Authority if you have questions.
You Can Climb The Peaks Without Doing The Challenge
The peaks welcome climbers all year round as long as the weather permits.
Gros Piton rises 2,619 feet above sea level and is anything but a walk in the park. Petit Piton may be shorter, but it’s not for everyone. It’s practically vertical from base to summit. The Pitons are the island’s most iconic peaks, but they aren’t the tallest. At over 3,000 feet, Mount Gimie is the highest point in St. Lucia with enviable views.
