Netflix has dropped several new images from Rustin, the upcoming biopic starring Colman Domingo as civil rights leader Bayard Rustin.
The images showcase Domingo in character alongside CCH Pounder, Glynn Turman and others.
Rustin was Martin Luther King Jr.’s right-hand man and creator of one of the most important events in American history, the March on Washington in 1963. According to the official description:
The architect of 1963’s momentous March on Washington, Bayard Rustin was one of the greatest activists and organizers the world has ever known. He challenged authority, never apologized for who he was, what he believed, or who he desired. And he did not back down. He made history, and in turn, he was forgotten. Directed by DGA Award and five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe and starring Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo, Rustin shines a long overdue spotlight on the extraordinary man who, alongside giants like the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and Ella Baker, dared to imagine a different world, and inspired a movement in a march toward freedom.
The film also stars Chris Rock, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, Da’Vine Randolph, Michael Potts, Johnny Ramey, Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald. The film is produced by Bruce Cohen and Tonia Davis and George C. Wolfe via the Obamas’ production arm Higher Ground. Former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama serve as executive producers through Higher Ground alongside Mark R. Wright, Alex G. Scott, David Permut, Daniel Sladek and Chris Taaffe.
Rustin comes to Netflix Nov. 17 after a Nov. 3 theatrical run.
