Maryam Basir and the cast of “Lace” are back for season two, premiering Thursday, June 29 on ALLBLK.
“After the explosive events of last season, the incomparable Lacey McCullough’s (Basir) world has been thrown into a downward spiral. This season, Lacey’s enemies are finally closing in, culminated by a large-scale FBI investigation, leaving the future of Lacey and McCullough & Associates hanging in the balance,” per the official S2 synopsis.
“Lacey’s right-hand man and loyal confidante have departed the firm for good…disappearing without a trace. And, after exhausting all appeals, Lacey’s determined to get her mother out of prison,” the synopsis continues. “But, with the firm in flux, she will need to figure out who she can and cannot trust all whilst her personal relationship is crumbling, and she is in danger of losing custody of her daughter.”
The season 2 cast includes Tanyell Waivers (Queen Sugar), Antoine Harris (The Breaks), Mollie Dolcimascolo (General Hospital), Taylor Bynoe, Isaac Stephen Montgomery (The Gray Man), and Leticia Labelle (What Bitch?). With special guest appearances by Kellita Smith (From Scratch), Leonard Roberts (All American), Terrell Carter (From Scratch) and Norman Towns (Insecure).
Born in Detroit and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Basir booked the role of Lacey with no audition. Per a news release, producers from the show saw her in other roles and decided Maryam would be perfect for the role of Lacey.
Per the news release: The Los Angeles attorney is willing to do anything for her clients. Lacey blurs the lines between right and wrong as a multi-dimensional and enigmatic character. It is often unknown whether Lacey is a “good guy” or a “bad guy” as she fights to get the best possible outcome for her clients.
