*R&B singer Kevin McCall has been ordered to pay over a million dollars to an ex-girlfriend who he brutally assaulted in 2019.
The woman, identified only as “K.M.,” claims the attack occurred after she tried stopping him from smoking marijuana in her car. According to legal documents obtained by HipHopDx, McCall responded by punching her in the head while she was driving on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles.
He was arrested in April 2019 and charged with one felony count of injuring a spouse or cohabitant, according to People. McCall was released on a $75K bond. On July 14, he was sentenced to five years in prison, but it was subsequently suspended, RadarOnline reports.
Instead of sending McCall to prison, the judge put him on probation and ordered him to serve 90 days in the Los Angeles County Jail.
According to reports, K.M. filed a civil suit against McCall as a result of the judge’s decision. In the legal docs, she claims the punch to the head was forceful, “causing her head to slam against the driver’s side window.”
She also alleges she “struggled to understand what had just happened and to regain control of her vehicle” after McCall assaulted her.
The judge gave the woman a default judgment on Friday. McCall was ordered to pay her $1.5 million.
McCall is famously known for dating model Eva Marcille, who in the past accused him of physical and mental abuse. They share a minor daughter together, but he is not an active father in her life, according to Eva.
