*Future takes aims at Ciara‘s husband, Russell Wilson, on his new track, “Turn Yo Clic Up,” and the diss comes nearly a decade after he and the singer split.
The new song is a collaboration with Quavo and finds Future rapping: “I got it out the field / F—k Russell,” on the opening bars during the song’s second verse, US Weekly reports.
Future and Ciara got engaged in 2013 and had a son, Future Zahir, but they spilt the following year amid rumors that he repeatedly cheated. Ciara, 37, and Wilson began dating in 2015 and they tied the knot a year later. The pair share two young children.
“He do exactly what she tell him to do. I feel like … I don’t have no feelings,” Future said of Wilson on Apple Music’s Beats 1 in 2019, according to US Weekly.
Over the years, Future and Ciara have traded jabs on social media. During his Apple Music Beats 1 appearance, the hip-hop star slammed Wilson for allowing Ciara to speak publicly about their past relationship.
“He not being a man in that position. You not tellin’ her, ‘Bro, chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’” he continued. “If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up. She’d know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up. Don’t give that s—t no energy. It’s about me. I’m taking care of everything.”
Future was later called a bitter hater by Ciara fans, so he clarified his comments about his ex and her NFL star husband.
“We don’t have no problems. It’s a social media problem. No, I don’t hate [Russell]. Totally not the deal,” he stated on his Freebandz radio show.
“It was just the way we were carrying it, as far as being handled with Baby Future. I don’t have nothing against [Wilson] and I’m happy for them,” Future added.
