*Whoopi Goldberg’s will stipulates that her image and likeness can not be reproduced as a hologram after her death.
“Yeah, no, I don’t want to be a hologram, but that’s been in my will for 15 years,” the Oscar-winning actress said on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” referring to a celebrity hologram modeled after the late-great Whitney Houston, Entertainment Weekly reports.
“No one has really asked me if I want to be a hologram yet,” co-host Joy Behar responded, to which Goldberg replied: “They don’t ask you, that’s the thing. They just do it, and then you go, ‘Hey, isn’t that Tupac? Wait a minute, didn’t Tupac die? What is he doing up on…’ Yeah, see, I don’t want that. It’s a little freaky, creepy.”
The celebrity’s estate could approve such a move, Alyssa Farah Griffin added, but Goldberg noted that her estate “doesn’t want it.”
“My estate wants to be left alone,” Goldberg said.
While discussing the latest details about Aretha Franklin’s will, Whoopi shared an anecdote about her mother. “She said, ‘If I go, just put me in the microwave. I don’t want to be buried, because I don’t want people to take time out of their day to find me in some ground.’ So when she passed, I said to my brother, ‘Do you know about microwave?’ He said, ‘Yeah! She said something about the microwave.’ I said, ‘I think she wants to be cremated,’” she said. “There was never a question between [my brother and I] of what she wanted.”
Last year Goldberg revealed that she has a clause in her will that prevents unauthorized movies about her life from being made. She revealed as much during a discussion on “The View” about the fictionalized Marilyn Monroe film “Blonde,” on Netflix.
“It sounds macabre, but I was speaking to Whoopi, and I was saying that she’s such a famous person that when she passes away, people are going to make films,” co-host Sunny Hostin said on the episode, Page Six reported.
“Actually they’re not. They’re not going to make films, because in my will it says, ‘Unless you speak to my family, try it.’ Try it,” Goldberg replied.
“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.”
