*Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez passed away last Sunday and it appears drugs were involved in his untimely death.

According to Rodriguez’s mother Drena De Niro, the 19-year-old died from a possible overdose after taking pills laced with fentanyl, TMZ reports.

“Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him,” Drena shared on social media, Complex reports.  “So for all the people still fucking around selling and buying this shit, my son is gone forever.”

Drena announced her son’s death last week in an emotional post. As People reports, she wrote: “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.

“You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama. You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you,” Drena added.

As SandraRose.com reports, Leandro was found unresponsive sitting in a chair inside a million-dollar apartment on Wall Street on July 2. According to TMZ, police found drugs near his body.

Leandro’s official cause of death has not been annoucned. The Manhattan D.A. is currently looking for the dealer who sold him the tainted drugs.

“You were kindness acceptance and love and I can’t believe any of this is real YOU made everything bearable and every burden lighter. You didn’t deserve to die like this but I can only believe that God needed a strong powerful angel in their army,” Drena wrote about her late son on social media.
