Jodie Turner-Smith is joining the next installment of Disney’s Tron.
Variety reports that The Acolyte star will join Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Greta Lee in Tron: Ares, the third film in the Tron franchise. Joachim Rønning is set to direct, with Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne writing the screenplay.
Turner-Smith’s role hasn’t been released, but some of the details about the film include Leto playing the sentient computer program Ares, who makes the leap into the human world. Lee will play a tech CEO and video game programmer who wants to protect Ares.
Depending on if Hollywood’s acting community does decide to strike, production is set to begin this August.
Turner-Smith’s role sees her relationship with Disney growing; currently, Turner-Smith’s role in The Acolyte is also under wraps, but she is set to star alongside Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Dafne Keen, Carrie-Anne Moss and Manny Jacinto. Turner-Smith has also made waves by playing Anne Boleyn in a 2021 UK limited series which aired in the US via AMC+.
Turner-Smith made her big splash at the U.S. box office in Lena Waithe’s Queen & Slim, opposite Daniel Kalyuua.
