Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse might be all about Miles Morales’ venture into the Spider Society and the web of space and time, but the film (which just crossed $500 million at the global box office) is also very tied to the importance of family.
In a new featurette exclusive to S&A, Sony Pictures Animation is highlighting Miles’ love of family and what it means for him as a superhero. As Miles’ voice actor Shameik Moore said, “I love that Miles’ family is a large part of his life.”
Brian Tyree Henry, who voices Miles’ police officer father Jeff Morales, added, “You get to delve really deeply into the Morales family and to see how much they will do anything for their son.”
Co-director Christopher Miller also said that the film is also a journey for the parents as well.
“The movie is not just a coming of age for Miles, it’s also a coming of age for the parents,” he said, referencing how Miles’ parents have to figure out how to best support their son, who is growing into an adult.
