*You’ve been going about relationships all wrong! At least according to Ted Santos, a successful New York City-based entrepreneur who for years has been “in the business of creating miracles.” As the CEO of Turnaround Investment Partners, he helps CEOs of mid-sized and large companies achieve remarkable breakthroughs and penetrate untapped markets. Now, he is looking to create the same breakthroughs in the romance department for couples with his groundbreaking and controversial book, “Here’s Why You Can’t Find Love.”
Just one scroll across social media platforms or a listen on your local pop or Hip-Hop radio station will reveal a deep-seated issue in modern society. Most men and women have utter disdain for one another. But what can be done about it? Is marriage even worth it?
In brilliant fashion, Santos has merged his business acumen with his passion for dissecting the science of relationships and intimacy to determine why relationships fail, and what needs to be done to succeed in love and marriage. His book takes the reader on a journey of transformation. It centers on a conversation between him and five women at a luxury hotel, where they discuss their views on what makes a relationship successful, or not. What Santos uncovers is many of the issues that sink businesses are the same reasons that cause modern-day unions to deteriorate. The foundation and culture are contaminated.
“We have completely abandoned values and an understanding of gender roles, which have existed for a reason. Men and women have different qualities, different strengths, and different weaknesses, and couples have conflict because they are trying to play the same roles. Relationships are a team sport. Not everyone can be the quarterback, Santos said. “Also, people go into relationships backwards. They go in looking for love and hope that love will save the relationship. Love doesn’t create a great relationship. Love is a byproduct of a great relationship.”
Santos states that it is especially important for the Black community to understand how to have a “breakthrough mindset” in relationships. Today’s sobering statistics reveal that by 2020, 51.4% of Black men and 27.7% of Black women had never been married, a 30% increase from 1970 (Census Bureau). The lack of success between men and women continues to have a deleterious impact on the Black community’s ability to truly grow and flourish (economic power), or to have healthy views on relationships. Who or what bears the brunt of the responsibility for this growing trend? You must read the book to find out.
“The Black community has too much of a knee-jerk reaction when it comes to solutions,” he said. “You have to understand the problem. If you don’t first understand the source of the problem, you will only create solutions for symptoms. That perpetuates the problem.”
Through his extensive research, Santos has also identified another extremely troubling trend. Corporate America is losing approximately $300 billion dollars annually, because of one word…. Divorce. When people are dealing with divorce, their workplace performance drops by 50%-75%. With nearly half of marriages ending in divorce, corporations, families, and future generations will suffer through a repetitive cycle. That is, unless something changes. Santos wants to be the solution by sparking drastic change in the way people approach relationships and the workplace.
“My book focuses on providing people with the tools, skills and competencies to choose who is most compatible with you when it comes to marriage,” said Santos. “Once in the relationship, there are tools that allow people to more effectively build a great, lasting relationship. If more relationships are successful, divorce rates drop. With lower divorce rates, corporate America can stop bleeding the $300 billion in workplace productivity. As you can imagine, unproductive people can cause an organization to be unprofitable. Unprofitable corporations will lay people off to regain profitability. When people are laid off, it puts stress on marriages and can lead to divorce which starts the cycle of unproductive employees all over again.”
“Here’s Why You Can’t Find Love” is certain to ruffle feathers, and force people to do a deep dive into their own mindsets and approaches to interpersonal relationships. It is a reference for men, women, business executives, psychology enthusiasts, and those who desire to find compatibility in a partner, employees, or with associates. The book is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other platforms.
