*Spike Lee mourns the passing of his father, Bill Lee, bassist and composer of his films; Bill died at age 94. The New York Times posted his obituary, which reads, “Bill Lee, a jazz bassist, and composer who scored the early films of his son Spike Lee, wrote folk-jazz operas, led an acclaimed ensemble of bassists and was a prolific sideman for Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, and others, died on Wednesday morning at his home in Brooklyn.” Man, so many greats are leaving us; rest in power, King.
Ayesha Curry covered Insider‘s May digital cover and spoke about her Sweet July publication, giving a peek into her lifestyle. “I feel like you see a lot less of me, and you hear a lot less of me, but it’s because I’m actually living my life. And it feels really good,” said the 34-year-old mother of three.
Beyoncé paid tribute to Tina Turner on her website and thanked her for paving the way.
Tisha Campbell is asked what advice she would give her 21-year-old self and provides a short list: have separate bank accounts when in a relationship, learn the business you are in, and be the best because the world looks at you as less than others because of your skin. Wise words.
