*The ladies of the Starz series “Run the World” are back for season two! During season one, viewers were introduced to four friends living in New York trying to navigate their careers, love lives, and friendships.
At the end of last season, Whitney (Amber Stevens), confessed to her fiance Ola about her infidelity. Renee (Bresha Webb) and her husband separated and Sondi (Corbin Reid) was keeping secrets from her professor boyfriend.
So where does that leave the ladies? Especially Whitney. If you are like me you watched last season in disbelief. Whitney’s fiance Ola (Tosin Morohunfola) checks off all of the boxes. He’s a handsome, well-educated doctor. Her family loves him. So why would this woman risk throwing a man like that back into the wild, aka the dating scene?
We spoke with the ladies and had to know what was going through Whitney’s mind.
“She knows on paper everything was perfect. But something inside of her was telling her that she needed to blow this up,” said Stevens. That leads to the question, was there something missing in their relationship even though it appeared to be perfect? Whitney will explore that in season two. As a viewer myself I am hoping this couple works it out.
Another couple I’m rooting for is Renee and Jason. I don’t believe their love story is over. Renee has every right to feel betrayed by Jason for taking their money to fund his dream as a music producer. Will his success inspire her to forgive him? There are so many questions we need to be answered in this upcoming season.
Something we don’t need an answer for is if the ladies will be there for one another. Their bond is what drew me to this show. Now you may be wondering where Ella (Andrea Bordeaux) is, as I haven’t mentioned her. She decides to take some time for herself and moves to Mexico. Even with her living in another country, she was still able to show up for Renee in a time of need.
Webb shared with us why she thinks friendships are important among a group of women.
“Who do you lean on when you fall? One thing I love about us is we send a SOS text. No matter what we’re doing we leave immediately to show up for our sisters,” said Webb.
Make sure you show up for season two of “Run The World” streaming on Starz Friday, May 26th.
