Eddie Murphy In Talks To Star In ‘Pink Panther’ Reboot From MGM – Shadow and Act

Eddie Murphy is circling a starring role in MGM’s upcoming Pink Panther reboot.

According to Deadline, sources state that Murphy is eyeing potentially playing Inspector Clouseau in the next iteration of the popular film series that defined Peter Sellers’ comedic film career. Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler will direct from a script by Chris Bremner. Producers include Julie Andrews, Dan Lin, Larry Mirisch and Jonathan Eirich.

According to one of Deadline’s sources, the film is described as a natural fit for Murphy, who has been a huge fan of Sellers.

Murphy’s career renaissance has been one that fans have enjoyed thus far, with Murphy revisiting prior successful roles such as Prince Akeem in the Coming to America sequel and, currently in the works, a revisit to Axel Foley in the upcoming film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley for Netflix, starring alongside Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Murphy has also shown more of his mix of the comedic and dramatic in films like Dolemite Is My Name and Kenya Barris’ interracial comedy You People, starring alongside Jonah Hill, Nia Long and Lauren London.

Murphy will also get into the holiday film bag with his upcoming film with Tracee Ellis Ross, Candy Cane Lane for Prime Video.
