Delta Donates $3 Million To Fight Breast Cancer And Raise Awareness – Travel Noire

When it comes to raising awareness of breast cancer, Delta Airlines is on board. The carrier donated $3 million dollars to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

According to Simple Flying, the amount “adds to an impressive total of $24.75 million for BCRF since 2005, funding 87 research projects.”

Some Delta Employees Have Been Impacted by Breast Cancer

For the carrier, the reason for the donation isn’t just to be charitable. Some of the Delta employees have either experienced breast cancer themselves, or know somebody who has. One breast cancer survivor is Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta’s SVP of In-Flight Service.

She said, “From when we started in 2005 to now in 2023 being able to donate $3 million dollars to the cause is amazing, and I know Delta has made a tremendous impact. And it means all the more to me as a survivor myself. I’ve seen firsthand the difference the research makes in the lives of those fighting the battle today and I could not be more grateful for the efforts of all the Delta employees.”

Another Delta employee said the donations helped to save the life of her friend, who was diagnosed with the disease.

A Delta Plane Is Painted Pink- The Color for Breast Cancer Research

One of Delta’s planes, the 767-400ER (a Boeing 767) is partially painted pink.

Simple Flying reports, as of February 28, 2023, this 767-400ER has flown no less than 83,881 flight hours and 14,253 cycles or take-offs and landings together.

The plane has been to Washington state and France, among other places.

Delta isn’t the only airline carrier to show support for breast cancer research. Other airlines, such as Qatar Airlines, Allegiant Airlines and Alaska Airlines, have done the same at various points.
