Nick Cannon said his relationship with his ex-wife, singer Mariah Carey, was like if former President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin “had to live in the same house.”

Nick Cannon likened living with ex-wife Mariah Carey to what it might be like if Donald Trump and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin shared an abode.
“Imagine if, like, Trump and Putin had to live in the same house,” Cannon told the Los Angeles Times in a new interview published Sunday while reflecting on their toxic dynamic towards the end of their marriage in 2014.
The “Masked Singer” host added, “It wasn’t even about her and I — we’ve always been good.”
Cannon, 42, said that he and Carey, 54, ultimately had to do what was best for their 12-year-old twins: Monroe and Moroccan.
“It was more about us understanding that instead of making it about our relationship and what I want or what you want, we should just do what’s best for the children.”
Cannon and the “All I Want For Christmas is You” artist got married in 2008 and started a family together three years later. But their marriage slowly unraveled in 2014 and they ended up getting a divorce two years later.
Since their breakup, Cannon and Carey continue to co-parent their two kids but he has welcomed 10 more children with five different women.
The “Drumline” actor — who doesn’t believe in monogamy — welcomed Golden ‘Sagon,’ 6, Powerful Queen, 2, and Rise Messiah, 7 months, with Brittany Bell; 1-year-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and Beautiful Zeppelin, 5 months, with Abby De La Rosa, and Onyx, 7 months, with LaNisha Cole.
He and Alyssa Scott also welcomed Zen in June 2021 but their baby boy tragically died at just 5 months from a brain tumor. They went on to welcome Halo Marie in December 2022.
Cannon also welcomed son Legendary with Bre Tiesi in July 2022.
Nonetheless, Carey has been nothing but supportive of Cannon throughout his parenting journey.
“She’s like, ‘Yo, let’s make sure we’re on the same page every day so when some bulls–t comes up, we know that it ain’t true,’” Cannon shared in an episode of “The Jason Lee Show.
He added that the five-octave vocalist is constantly checking in on him to make sure he’s OK.
“She’s high frequency. She always asks me, ‘You aight? How you doin’? You handling it all?’” Cannon shared, noting that they “talk daily” and she is checking in on his “spirit.”
As for how Carey and Cannon’s children feel about having so many younger siblings, the “Wild ‘n Out” host said they love it.
“They have fun, and they’re the oldest,” Cannon said on “Howie Mandel Does Stuff Podcast” in April.
Unlike Cannon, Carey has not welcomed any more children since having her twins, but she did move on with partner Bryan Tanaka.
