Idris Elba stars in the new Apple TV+ series Hijack. The first look image showing Elba sitting in first class on a plane, but his first class seat is just a surface-level comfort since the plane is in peril.
According to Apple TV+, the series is created by Lupin and Criminal executive producer George Kay and and Kay’s Criminal co-executive producer Jim Field Smith and also stars Archie Panjabi. Kay is the screenwriter of the series with Smith directing. Elba also executive produces.
The series is a seven-part thriller starring Elba as a business negotiator who must become the savior of the plane he’s traveling on. The series takes a 24 approach by telling the story in real time. According to the official description:
Told in real time, Hijack is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers. Elba will star as Sam Nelson, an accomplished negotiator in the business world who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers — but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing. Panjabi will play the role of Zahra Gahfoor, a counterterrorism officer who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation. In addition to Elba and Panjabi, the series stars Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.
Hijack drops on Apple TV+ June 28.
