*The age-old bedtime story of “Peter Pan” is reimagined and David Lowery brings a new perspective to “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
Not only do we see a timely Tinker Bell (Yara Shahidi), but an inclusive Tiger Lily (Alyssa Wapanatâhk). The cantankerous Captain Hook is played by veteran actor Jude Law.
This, by far, is not the least of Law’s unsavory roles. Law was aptly named Gigolo Joe in “A.I.”
That title was befitting his character in “Alfie,” where he had a baby with his cheating best friend (Omar Epps) girlfriend, (Nia Long).
Most of us know Hook and Peter (Alexander Molony) were besties at one time too. Hook, however, felt betrayed by Peter and they became arch-enemies.

The Disney+ Original live-action movie, “Peter Pan & Wendy,” revisits the J.M. Barrie novel and the 1953 animated classic. “Peter Pan & Wendy” also stars Ever Anderson (Wendy), Joshua Pickering (John Darling), Jacobi Jupe (Michael Darling), Molly Parker (Mrs. Darling), Alan Tudyk (Mr. Darling), Jim Gaffigan (Smee), Kelsey Yates (Twin 1), and Skylar Yates (Twin 2)—both stars of “9-1-1 Lonestar,” where Angela Bassett is an executive producer.
The film introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind. She then meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland.
There, she encounters the evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a dangerous adventure that will forever change her life. Even with all the improved changes and visual enhancements, most viewers are familiar with the story. That being said, a lot of the elements of wonderment and awe are lost.
Michael Jackson was so enamored with and wanted to be Peter Pan, he named his estate Neverland Ranch. Playing Peter Pan was a dream for Jackson. “Peter Pan and Wendy” is now playing exclusively on Disney+
