*Rihanna appeared at CinemaCon Thursday to announce that she will voice the character of Smurfette in Paramount Animation’s upcoming “The Smurfs Movie.”
“I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn’t work out,” she said on stage, Variety reports. RiRi will serve as a producer on the project as well as write and record original music for the film.
The songstress has appeared in a slew of film projects such as “Battleship,” “This is the End,” “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” “Ocean’s 8” and “Guava Island”. She also voiced an animated character in DreamWorks’ “Home” and created the soundtrack for the film.
“Getting to do animation is a fun journey for me,” Rihanna said at ComicCon.

“I’m usually front and center with everything with my likeness…but this was fun, I got to imagine, I got to show up in my pajamas in my third trimester, and be a blue badass,” she continued.
“I hope this gives me a little bit of cool points with my kids one day,” Rihanna added.
President of Paramount Animation Ramsey Naito told the crowd that the Smurfs movie will unpack themes of identity, asking the question, “What is a Smurf?”
The “Smurfs” reboot is slated for a release on Feb. 14, 2025.
Meanwhile, Rihanna’s 2011 smash hit “We Found Love” has officially reached Diamond status after selling 10 million units.
