Facebook Watch Cancels Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’

*Jada Pinkett Smith is taking a hiatus from spilling her family tea on “Red Table Talk” — as Facebook Watch has canceled all of its original programmings.

According to Variety, Pinkett Smith and her husband Will Smith produce the show through their Westbrook Studios, and the production company is looking for a new distributor for “Red Table Talk.” 

The Emmy Award-winning series is hosted by Jada, her daughter Willow, and her mother Adrienne Banfield Norris. Per the show synopsis: “Each episode is shot at the Smith’s family home where these three passionate and opinionated women bring their unique perspectives to real issues affecting real people. “Red Table Talk” is filled with honest, intimate, and inspiring conversations on topics impacting each of our lives.”

Will Smith appeared on the show in 2020 to reflect on his childhood trauma and his decades-long feud with the original Aunt Viv on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Janet Hubert.

“So my father was violent in my house. So a part of the whole creation of Will Smith, the joking, [the] fun, [the] silly, was to make sure that my father was entertained enough not to hurt my mother or anybody in the house,” Smith said at the time. “So, that plucks a childhood space of inadequacy and when someone comes at me like that, the little boy is fully in that space and I would perform and dance and tell jokes, right? People laughing and people having fun was my defense mechanism. I realize the other side of it was, if I cut you bad enough, you wouldn’t be able to respond.”

The actor also appeared on the series to unpack his martial issues and Jada’s past “affair” with singer August Alsina. Smith returned to the red table last year with his three kids to open up about making the movie “Emancipation” and how he almost “lost himself” in the role. 

Since the launch of Red Table Talk in 2018, the show’s hosts have explored a myriad of topics such as women’s healthcare, mental health issues, drug abuse, and sexuality and we can’t forget the episode when Jada, Willow, and Adrienne steamed their vaginas. 

“Red Table Talk” is reportedly one of a handful of original programs still airing on Facebook Watch.
