*Fugees fans are reacting to Pras Michel admitting to being an FBI informant.
As EUR’s Willy Mwanza Mwanza reported previously, the former rapper is accused of teaming with Malaysian financier Jho Low to run a back-channel campaign that would’ve influenced the Trump administration to drop an investigation of Low and his alleged siphoning of $4.4 billion from Malaysian sovereign wealth fund, 1Malaysia Development Beghad (1MDB).
Federal prosecutors also say that Pras, an avid supporter of Barack Obama, received roughly $100 million from Low to influence the 2012 presidential campaign, according to the New York Post. As Complex reports, Pras is accused of “conspiring to make illegal campaign contributions using foreign funds.”
Michel maintains that he is the lawful owner of the money he donated to U.S. campaigns.

Michel’s trial kicked off on March 27, in Washington D.C. According to some circulating reports, he would face a friendlier court outcome in return for becoming a government informer. But he reportedly refused.
According to Rolling Stone, Michél took the stand last week and revealed that he spoke to FBI agents about China’s plans to extradite a dissident. He reportedly said, “I took it upon myself to report because I thought the FBI should know.”
Now, fans of The Fugees are blasting Michel for being a snitch.
“When you consider Wyclef’s charity scams, Pras being a fed, Lauryn’s live performance grift, and John Forte’s dope dealing the Fugees camp is first team All- Infamous,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another person added, “The solo careers of the Fugees have been interesting to watch. Lauryn created one of the most beloved albums of the 90s and R&B in general, Wyclef has had some successful songs and features, Pras is in jail for being an FBI informant..”
Michel faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted on charges that include one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States government.
