*It’s a feel-good supernatural horror! Renfield is a contemporary take on Dracula’s deranged assistant – Renfield.
The fantasy flick stars Awkwafina (The Farewell, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings) as a truculent traffic cop and Renfield’s close friend.
The comedian talked to EUR about Mr. Clean and his cast mates.
Q: In this film, Renfield doesn’t get to choose his assistant position but if you could choose to be anyone’s assistant, who would you pick and why?
A: Wow! Mr. Clean?! I feel like he’s always casual. He wears jeans to work, and I could help him. I love his eraser – it’s a good shoe hack!

Q: What if we were picking from your cast mates?
A: Shohreh Aghdashloo, she plays Teddy’s (Ben Schwartz) mom [Ella, a mob boss]. I think we’d have fun together.
Q: Rebecca and Renfield are funny together! Kind of like a good cop, bad cop duo but he’s not an officer…
A: Working with Nick Hoult, first of all, was a dream. I loved reading about their relationship in the script because they are two people whose intentions are to do what’s right and their intentions are not to be merciful. One of them, however, is weak and the other one has anger issues. They found common ground in a romantic sense, [out of a pure place]. It’s always really funny when one is an immortal assistant that’s lived for hundreds of years and the other is a traffic cop from New Orleans.
Renfield also stars Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise), Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, Ben Schwartz (Sonic, The Afterparty) and
Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus) and Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam,
House of Sand and Fog). Andi s directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War, The LEGO Batman Movie); based on an original idea by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman.
#RenfieldMovie will be in theaters April 14.
